Scotland Travel

The northern reaches of the United Kingdom are home to the proud people and history of Scotland. Sharing a nearly 100 mile border with England, Scotland has been intertwined with its southern neighbor for centuries. The history of Scotland is much of what draws visitors from around the globe. From ancient artifacts like Skara Brae to the remnants of the Picts and the Norse occupation of the eighth and ninth centuries, there is much to see here making up a rich and detailed history of the island.

Far from the central population centers of the UK, northern Scotland is home to some of the most breathtaking and pristine preserves of land in Europe. Whale watching, hiking among the frigid tundras to the north, and exploration of the pools surrounding the country’s many miles of coastland can be a transformative experience.

Many are those who have made pilgrimage to Scotland for a taste of natural produce, centuries old recipes, and fresh seafood in spectacularly prepared dishes. More are those who visit centuries old whiskey distilleries for some of the finest spirits in the world. Scotland is equally well known for its impact on the culture of the English-speaking world. Edinburgh hosts the world’s largest arts festival every year with more than 55,000 performances over more than three weeks in 2018. And be sure not to miss the museums in Glasgow and Aberdeen to explore the rich history of novelists, painters, and engineers who have left a lasting mark.
