Increasingly, hen weekends are now an opportunity to get away on a mini-break, relax in crystal clear waters, lounge on white sandy beaches and grab guaranteed sunshine. Beach breaks provide a chance to spend some quality time with the girls, get a great tan in time for the wedding and help you return completely revived.
White sandy beaches, the quaint cobbled streets of the Old Town and the all-night parties of Sao Jao, it’s not surprising that Albufeira, Portugal, is one of the most popular beach destinations for a hen weekend abroad.
Situated in the beautiful Algarve, Albufeira is a great destination for hen weekends, especially if you’re after a destination that’s both beautiful and exciting. Everything you need is here to hand. Just minutes away from Oura Beach, the main beach in Albufeira, is ‘The Strip’ in Sao Jao, which has the best bars and clubs.
The Old Town, with its pretty square surrounded by trees, provides a little added culture and somewhere to relax. There are numerous street restaurants, street stalls, and plenty of bars that stay open late if you’re not looking for the all-night club scene.
If you feel more adventurous, then head to the outskirts of town to the marina where you’ll see its characteristic, colorful painted buildings. It’s from here you can go on fishing trips, boat trips or simply just stroll along the promenade.
