Asia is a beautiful region and is becoming an increasingly popular destination for adventure hungry Americans. Southeast Asia is home to incredible landscapes, cultural endeavors and architecture, but many people visit the region for its islands, beautiful cities and of course beaches.

The beaches in Asia are quite simply stunning and the best beaches in Southeast Asia are said to be in Thailand and the Philippines. Today we wanted to share with you our recommendations and talk about what makes these beaches so special. So without further ado, here is our take on the best beaches in southeast Asia.

1. Patong Beach, Thailand

It should come as no surprise that several beaches in Thailand also rank as some of the best beaches in Asia the world. Beautiful sandy white beaches and many amazing islands make Thailand the perfect travel destination.

Patong is the largest beach on the island of Phuket. It has been considered Thailand’s top destination for years. Patong is the main tourist and entertainment district in Phuket and offers a large number of bars and restaurants. A further reason to visit is the variety of water sports they offer, which include jet skiing, windsurfing, wake boarding, water skiing and para sailing.

2. Karon Beach, Thailand

Karon Beach is the second largest beach in Phuket. It is less crowded than Patong and offers a full range of beach facilities and activities. The southern part of Karon Beach has a stunning stretch of coral reef which is ideal for snorkeling.

Featuring a white sand beach set against the crystal-clear waters of the Andaman Sea, this is a large beach with lots of beauty and room for everyone.

3. Hua Hin Beach, Thailand

Hua Hin Beach, located in the beach town of Bang Saphan, is a popular destination for locals as well as international visitors, and it is easily reached from Bangkok.

4. Maya Bay, Thailand

Inside the Maya Bay there are several beaches. The main one is about 200 meters long and has soft white sand and a diverse marine life. Maya Bay has become a popular tourist attraction since the filming of the movie “The Beach” in 1999, causing it to become one of the more famous beaches in Asia.

5. & 6. Alona Beach and Doljo Beach, The Philippines

The Philippines are known for their world class beaches in Panglao, which are famous for their bio diverse diving spots and breathtaking coral reefs. Two of the most famous beaches in Panglao are Alona Beach and Doljo Beach.

Many visitors rent boats from Alona Beach for island hopping tours and enjoy fun water activities, such as snorkeling and scuba diving. Many visitors use Panglao as a start-off point to Pamilacan Island, which is considered a home to dolphin and large whales.

7. & 8. Nacpan and Calitang Beach, Palawan, Philippines

Many visitors have reported that out of all of the beaches in Palawan, Nacpan and Calitang are a must-see on any travel itinerary. They are said to be the longest beaches in all of El Nido. To get to Nacpan and Calitang Beach, you can rent a motorbike, tricycle or a boat in the town of El Nido.

9. Samal, Philippines

Southern Philippines is home to some superb beaches. You’ll think you’ve found paradise when you arrive at the Island Garden City of Samal, with its stunning scenery, beautiful clean beaches and warm breeze.
