Breathtaking Barcelona Parks

There are several appealing buildings enriching Barcelona’s skyline. But aside from the many houses, offices, monuments and plazas, the city also has green. This is where Barcelona parks come in to play.

Parks and gardens can be found throughout the city. From small to large, to architectural and romantic, the city has all variants. The green places give you a place to relax from the active city life. Beautiful views, plants and lakes can be discovered and in the meanwhile you can enjoy a lunch and do a bit of tanning.

Parc de Collserola

The protected natural site in Barcelona is called Parc de Collserola. This park is covering a surface of 8,000 hectares of beautiful lakes, flowers and green spaces which together give an amazing sight.

Parc de Montjuïc

The other main park of Barcelona is Parc de Montjuïc which is located over the hill of Montjuïc with many interesting sights. Going up the mountain you will be given an amazing view over the city and several peaceful and special courtyards can be seen on your way to the top. A garden which can be visited is the Botanical Gardens, where numerous of plants and flowers are making the view even prettier.

Park Güell

When interested in a more architectural park Park Güell is the place to be. This park is surrounded with Gaudi’s creations with colorful mosaic benches and impressive statues. Additionally, this park gives an amazing view on the entire city. This park is, however, a popular attraction for tourists and this peaceful park is in the summer months filled with visitors. It is still recommended to see this at least once when visiting Barcelona. The park is one of the most known sights of the city.

More Barcelona Parks with Lovely Gardens

In Barcelona one can visit a few romantic parks with classical gardens. Examples are Jardins del Palau Reial de Pedralbes, Parc de Cervantes, Parc del Laberint, and the most popular one:  Parc de la Ciutadella. Located at the hillside towards the adjacent cities, a number of wooded parks can be found. For interesting Mediterranean plants and trees the Turó de la Peira, Parc de la Guineueta, and the Parc de l’Oreneta are recommended stops.

Barcelona also has modern parks to offer whereby designed green spaces can be discovered. Interesting parks to visit are Parc de Diagonal Mar and Parc Central de Nou Barris. There are even parks created on former industrial sights and railways. The biggest ones are Parc de l’Estació del Nord and Parc del Clot.

It can be concluded that there is definitely no lack of green in Barcelona. Parks can be found everywhere around the city and here you can enjoy the beautiful green spaces, flowers, lakes and of course the view. Parks are a great way to relax from the city that stays alive all day long. These places allow you to peacefully enjoy the weather.
