1. Holkham, Norfolk

This stunning and secluded beach has no less than three miles of white sand stretching out before you. Sheltered by pine forests and dunes, it’s the perfect place to relax or let your family run wild in all the beautiful open space.

You could be forgiven for thinking you’re on a tropical island at South Beach, instead of on a beach holiday in Wales. The yellow sand and soft dunes are the stuff of desert island dreams, and the sea is very safe for swimming.

The haunting Holy Island is a magical spot off the Northumbrian coast. Cut off by the tide from the mainland twice a day, it retains a wild and remote feel. A castle and the ruins of a priory are perched on the island, but there’s also an amazing stretch of deserted beach where you can watch out for grey seals and rare birds.
