Where to Stay in Barcelona
When thinking about the perfect accommodation in Barcelona, you must take into consideration your preferences and choose the best option according to them. An apartment in Barcelona has many advantages that no other accommodation has: it combines good price with great comfort and privacy. You don’t have to share room with people you don’t know and you can make your own meals, for example.
Once you have opted to rent an apartment, the question that comes to your mind is: what is the best district in Barcelona? Well, let me suggest you some excellent areas where you can stay:
This area is very close to the beaches and Las Ramblas. It is a neighborhood characterized by narrow streets named after the guilds that used to work there. Hidden in these streets there is the Museo Picasso, one of the most visited museums in the city. Wandering around you will get to Santa Maria del Mar, the basilica starring the novel by Ildefonso Falcons The cathedral of the sea. Furthermore, this area has lots of tiny bars where you can taste delicious tapas and the best Catalan wines and cava.
Another cozy neighborhood characterized by narrow streets, big squares where people meet both night and day, little shops and great, small bars. Getting around this uptown area is very exciting, because you will discover shops selling anything from Indian stuff to Catalan typical food. What is more, you can also attend a theater show in the Teatreneu or go dancing in the nightclubs of the area after some tapas and beer.
Get an apartment close to the monumental Plaza Espanya and the amazing shopping center las Arenas, which used to be a bullring and keeps its original facade. From there you will have wonderful views of Montjuic hill. At the foot of the lung of Barcelona, there’s Plaza Espanya and the two Venetian Towers which give way to the Magic Fountain and the Palace. Go up the hill and on your way to the Olympic site and the Miró Foundation, you can pay a visit to the Poble Espanyol and get to know all the main areas of Spain replicated in this great village.
This area is the most modernist one in Barcelona. In the center of the Eixample, there is the commercial street Passeig de Gràcia which connects Plaza Catalunya and Avinguda Diagonal. Apart from the best boutiques with the most famous designer labels, you’ll see the most wonderful examples of modernist architecture. It is along this great avenue where you can see the Pedrera by Gaudí or the Block of Discord composed by Casa Batlló, Casa Ametller, Casa Lleó I Morera and Casa Mulleras houses; authentic Barcelona attractions. Their different styles make them clash with each other and thus the view is amazing. In the Eixample you can have traditional dishes and tapas in the best Catalan restaurants of the area and it is a great zone for going out at night.
So, have you already chosen the ideal area in Barcelona for you and your traveling companions?
