Time for Kids – 5 Unique Travel Adventures to Take With Your Kids This Summer
With summer approaching and the beautiful, sunny days near, we are all wondering how to please the little ones. You’ve tried Disney World, but waiting two hours to see Goofy just isn’t quite worth it sometimes. You’re looking for something different, something unique, but something your kids will enjoy as well. After years of complaining kids, you can finally enjoy a vacation and have a great family bonding moment at these five unique travel adventures.
It’s surprising to think Washington, D.C. could be a travel spot for kids to enjoy, but it’s true. Behind all the politics, corruption and unsuccessful sports teams, D.C. is in fact one of the top kid-friendly travel destinations in the nation. It may take them a while, but in to time your kids will be mesmerized by the never ending history found there. Beyond the history, you can even take them to the famous spy museum and the National Zoo, two things kids adore. So, although it doesn’t seem like a good spot for kids to have fun, there are plenty of activities to enjoy with your family in Washington, D.C.
When most families go to Arizona for a vacation, they almost always go to the well-known Grand Canyon. Very few take the interesting trip down south to Sedona, Arizona. The beauty found at this location is just as good as the Grand Canyon. Not to mention, the price is the same for both locations. So, what makes Sedona so great? Well, they have hotels. Which means after a long day of hiking the many trails at Sedona, you can get good nights sleep in a comfortable bed? Opposed to sleeping in a tent on the hard ground. Forget all that, though. What do kids want to do in the summer? Swim, of course! So, have your kids enjoy the many swimming holes and state parks for a fantastic summer vacation.
Central California Coast
Southern Cali is fairly popular during the summer. So, if you’re not too big on crowds then maybe traveling a few hours north would help. Although the temperature and water is a little cooler, you can still enjoy a nice vacation at the lovely beaches and family-friendly environment of the Central California Coast. Have fun body-boarding with your kids on the beach, swimming with otters, watching dolphins swimming close to the shore, and watching as all the sea lions gather. Some of the major towns on the central coast include: San Luis Obispo, Morro Bay and Cayucos. Don’t let your family down this summer and take them to the Central California Coast!
Next on the list is a vacation spot that any family will enjoy. It’s a state that’s used to family, since Utah families have, on average, more kids than the average family in any other state. It would be quite a relief to finally be around people who understand the pain, instead of giving you that dirty stare as they walk by. Inside Utah, you will find a total of seven national parks and numerous state parks that make it a hotspot for hikers, rock climbers, mountain bikers, and parents who would love to see their kids active for once. If you’re looking to enjoy a beautiful, active vacation, choose Utah and you won’t be disappointed.
Too many, this might be seen as a joke. But to others, it’s actually a pretty good idea. Every city has tourists. Those tourists go there to do something they can’t do anywhere else. So, take a day off work, get a hotel room for your family, and budget as if you were on a vacation outside of your hometown. Pretend to be a tourist and do all the things they would do. It’s an interesting concept, but as long as your kids are happy then everything is okay. Take a chance and vacation at home. It might be one of the best vacations you’ve ever had.
Summer always brings up the “Where are we going?” debate in terms of vacation. Being a parent, the last thing you want is to disappoint your kids. If you’re looking for a hint to a unique vacation, try one of these five spots: Washington, D.C., Sedona, AZ, Central California Coast, Utah or your hometown. It will be a different experience than the typical Disney World, but it will never disappoint. So, kick back and enjoy this summer with a gorgeous, relaxing vacation.
