Decide On a Destination

The first step in planning a romantic getaway is deciding where you and your partner want to go. If there is a destination you both have always wanted to visit, this may be the perfect opportunity to go there. Deciding on your destination almost always depends on your budget, so keep that in mind as well. If you have a large amount of money to spend on a trip, use it to your advantage and visit a place that really appeals to you and partner. If you do not have a ton of money to spend, do not be discouraged. There are many nearby places that may prove to be just as romantic.

Decide When to Go

Around the same time you are deciding on a destination, you should also decide when your trip will be taken. Planning in advance will allow you and your partner to take any needed time off from work, and will also ensure you get the proper reservations. You do not want to put the planning of a romantic getaway off until the last minute, otherwise the trip may end up being more stressful than romantic. Choose a time of year that will work well for both of you, and take into consideration a sitter if you have children. You will want to get a sitter lined up well before your trip, and you may want to have an alternate handy just in case.

Make Reservations

Once you have chosen a destination and determined when you will go, you should make reservations. This means purchasing plane tickets, hotel reservations, and tickets to any specific attractions. This should all be done well in advance, when the best rates and accommodations are usually available. The sooner you plan, the less stressful your life will be when your romantic getaway approaches.

Plan Activities

When your trip is booked, you can begin planning your activities. If you and your partner want to relax on the beach or in your hotel most of the time, you will not have to worry about planning very many activities. But if you both want to experience what your destination has to offer, you should do some research and make an itinerary that includes a few choice activities.

Pack Appropriately

When your romantic getaway approaches, you should take the time to pack the appropriate clothing and necessities. Research the weather patterns of your destination so you know what to expect and what to bring. Since your trip is based on romance, you may want to pack some lingerie or massage oil to make things more interesting for you and your partner.

Be Romantic

Many couples forget the real reason for their romantic getaway: romance. While planning your trip, do not plan too many activities. This may leave no time for you and your partner to spend alone time together, which is what the trip is all about. Additionally, over-planning may lead to fatigue and stress. You certainly do not want to return from your getaway being more stressed than when you left. Leaving much of your trip unplanned will make for a much more spontaneous, romantic getaway.

Once you see how easy it can be to plan a romantic getaway, you should have no trouble at all with it. Planning early and taking the time to discuss things with your partner will make for an enjoyable and unforgettable trip.
