Glamping under the Stars: Cozy Camping Pods
If your idea of the perfect holiday includes sipping champagne on your own private deck and waking up in a king-size bed, then camping is probably not top of your list of vacation ideas. Many of us still hold traumatic childhood memories of camping, and clearly remember the lumpy, bug-filled sleeping bags and forced sing-alongs. The rise of the Glampers has completely transformed the way we think about camping, and we can now sleep outdoors with all the luxuries of a five star hotel. Imagine a camping holiday that included your own private shower, Flat Screen TV, and even an iPod Dock and DAB radio. Glamping has taken the world by storm, and the addition of the new camping pod has made luxury camping affordable for everyone.
The camping pod is a cross between a log cabin and a luxury tent. Built from wood and big enough to sleep up to five people, it is a cheaper alternative to the yurt, and encourages a more cozy camping experience. Many pods come with their own electricity supply, and usually feature double glazed windows and insulated walls to keep you and your party safe from the elements. Added features include private bathrooms, mini-kitchens, patio doors, and private deck. Camping pods are incredibly versatile so whether you are looking for fully furnished luxury lodgings, or just a simple shelter to rest your head, most campsites will have a range of pods with different amenities available.
It is best to check with the campsite before you arrive to ensure you pack correctly for your getaway, as the interior furnishings will vary between sites. Some pods don’t have built in beds so you will have to bring your own pillows and sleeping bags, but others will have king-size beds and Egyptian cotton sheets. Occasionally some pods will not have access to an electrical hook up, so you may want to bring a small generator or extra batteries. What you can be sure of is a camping experience like no other, and retiring to your own comfortable, private space after a hard days sightseeing is an incredible experience. Many places even allow pets to stay in the camping pods, but be sure to check with the campsite beforehand if you’re thinking of bringing along a furry camper.
The Glamping experience is a vacation like no other, and all the benefits of a hotel can be had right in the middle of a rolling countryside. Imagine a camping holiday where you don’t have to spend hours looking for a spot to pitch your tent, going through the stressful process of construction, and then spending a night in flimsy, unsafe accommodation at the mercy of wind, rain, and insects. Fortunately, camping pods have sprung up in a wide variety of locations around the world, and many camp sites have made them a welcome addition to their services. Whether you are looking for a romantic getaway, family break, or even just a long weekend, camping pods provide an affordable and comfortable way to get the full experience of the great outdoors.
