The current Carlton Towers was built in the 17th century. In the past decade, the house was completely refurbished. It now offers luxury accommodation and facilities. In 2011, Sky Atlantic filmed a six-part documentary called The Guest Wing, which show what this beautiful house located in 250 acres of parkland has to offer.

There is accommodation for 32 guests in 16 bedrooms. They can seat 200 for weddings and other special events. There is a choice between holding the wedding in the house, the marquee or the grounds. There is a proper dance floor in The Armoury, which is also available. Game shooting, skeet shooting and course fishing are all available within the grounds for guests to enjoy.

Thornton Lodge, Wenslydale

Thornton Lodge is one of the newest mansion house wedding venues Yorkshire has to offer. It was built in 1909 as a summer retreat for the family of Harry Tunstill. However, that does not mean it does not have character, it is built from light limestone and has large windows and classic high ceilings.

There is luxury accommodation for 18 people in 9 bedrooms. Weddings can be held in the house or a marquee in the 13 acres. The waterfalls at Aysgarth, Pately Bridge and the caves of Ingleton are all within walking distance.

Chorister’s House near Ripon

Chorister’s House is one of the smaller British mansion houses. It only caters for parties of ten. Most people marry at the nearby Fountain’s Abbey, which has capacity for 80 to attend the wedding service itself and 120 to attend a reception. They use Chorister House as accommodation for the wedding party. The house is set in one of the UK’s oldest deer parks and is owned by The National Trust.

Woodlands near Settle

Woodlands was built in 1909 and is located in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It has accommodation for 19 across 10 bedrooms and capacity to hold a wedding for 70 guests. It is the perfect country venue for those who want an intimate yet special wedding.

It is close to Stainforth Falls, Malham Cove and Giggleswick Scar. These are beautiful locations in their own right, but are now more famous as filming locations for the Harry Potter films.
